Nightcrawling Once More
It’s over a month to the next Worldwide Sketchcrawl. I can’t go that long without hitting the streets!
So here’s some selections from a late night wandering from North Beach to Nob Hill. Lots more to draw there for people obsessed with well lit sculptural architecture…(there ARE other people like that aren’t there?)
Nightcrawling
Vancouver Island
Just back from a week on Vancouver Island.
The place is an amazing. A rocky coast covered in giant bonsai sculpted by wind and water.
It’s hard to describe what it’s like walking through the rainforest. Towering trees all around you, the dark interior of the forest, carpets of ferns spotlit by shafts of light, roots wrapped around mossy rocks, waterfalls, caves, lakes choked with lilies.
Someday you’ll have to see it for yourself. These sketches hardly do it justice.
Night Crawl
I was out of town for the last official sketchcrawl so I had to go do a nightcrawl to make up for it!
I went up to the Civic Center on Van Ness – to sketch the uplights on the buildings. Tonight is the SF Pride opening – so it’s all done up in rainbow colors. I guess the party is in full swing. Both Ways.
Night Sketching, Market Street
This is something I’ve wanted to get around to for a while now – I happened to be downtown for dinner tonight, so on the way back I did a couple of night drawings on Market Street.
I’ve always like the lighting there – I’d love to set up and plein air sometime – anyone want to do a 9 to midnight sketching outing!?! – we’ll see how that goes someday.
Nobody accosted me, and I didn’t get questioned by the cops – so, we’ll see – maybe there’ll be more of these late night drawings.

World Wide Sketchcrawl #18
Another excellent Sketchcrawl here in San Francisco. We spent the day in North Beach….head on over to the Sketchcrawl Forums and see what the rest of the world drew…
