Announcement: 2016 Workshops in Myrtle Beach and Savannah
As we are taking care of announcements today, here’s new info on two workshops for September 2016!Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Sept 19-21, 2016:
This fall, we’re offering a three day watercolor painting event in partnership with the South Carolina Watermedia Society.
We’ll be working at various locations in-and-around Myrtle Beach, painting en plein air, practicing the art of spontaneous sketching in watercolor. This is intended to be an easel-painting type of workshop. Students may want to have a basic familiarity with watercolor painting en plein air, but beginners with a willingness to jump in the deep-end are always welcome! This is the best way not to be a beginner any more :)

Savannah, Georgia, Sept 23-25, 2016:
We are offering a three day sketchbook drawing workshop in partnership with the Telfair Museums, held in conjunction with their upcoming exhibition One Hundred Years of Harmony: Paintings by Gari Melchers.
We’ll be working in-and-around the historic Owens-Thomas House and other nearby landmarks. This workshop is focused on sketchbook drawing in pen and ink, accompanied by tinting in watercolor.
The class is suitable for beginners, though advanced sketchers are welcome to come and work more independently. It is always a pleasure for other students to have experienced urban sketchers in the group.

Yay! Happy to see you will be here in the lowcountry! All registered and ready to roll : )
I’d love to join you there! A bit too far for now -but I’m signed up for your Manchester workshop – will we be sketching anywhere near a coffee shop do you think?
It will be a bit before we know our locations. The team in Manchester will sort of assign people spots to draw – so I’m not sure yet what the subject/location will be in MAN!
Hi Marc,
I’m interested in the Savanna sketching/watercolouring workshop in September. Can you please confirm that there will indeed be a good deal of hands on instruction/tutoring and also let me know if the price covers only the workshop/tuition or whether it includes anything else (food?accomodation?etc).
Thanks, Naomi Lane

Hey Naomi – as far as hands on time – we do our best to give everyone as much time as possible, as long as you consider the fact there are 15 students. I do demonstrations and explain assignments, and then move around giving help as people work. So, it’s not the same as individual instruction, but it’s not an advanced workshop where you paint without assistance either. There will be free painting periods to apply what we’ve practiced – but you are always welcome to stick with me and ask questions or see more demos. Re: The cost of the workshop – it’s only for the tuition, there are no provisions for meals, accommodation or transport. We’ll be walking from the Owens-Thomas house to any other locations we use – or staying at the house itself for the day. Thanks!
