#30×30 2026 : Is this a good painting or not :)

Sometimes I can’t tell if something is a good painting or not :) You ever have that feeling? This is definitely a bit ‘bold’ – but I think I like it :)
It’s about 9″ high, and done in blue, orange, black and white gouache over a sepia ink wash sketch. Probably a five minute drawing. The saturation is pushed in photoshop, but that’s a pure cad-orange gouache mixed from raw pigment, so it’s quite intense even in real life.
What about this one? This one is definitely bad – right?? :)

I am drawn to the figure but kind of agree there is a bit too much orange, although ????
The horses are FULL of movement! The photo zi see is too small to tell if the colours have a negative impact.
So I like both. They both show a sophistication and great technique. Did you use too much orange – maybe. Nothing that can’t be corrected.
Ps Not a professor so take my comments for what they are worth. I hardly ever like my painting and have about 7 friends who send me honest critique.
I find the orange on the nude disconcerting, as if the orange is referring to something about the figure in a contemporary/conceptual way, but I can’t understand it, whereas the two animals fighting reminded me of the Jan. 6 rioters – the orange works so well to emphasis their aggression and hyper action.
I like that you are so open to experimentation and for me, it paid off in the second painting.
