Today’s the Day! #OneWeek100People!

March 7, 2022

It’s the morning of day one and I’m imagining people all over the world packing their sketching gear and heading out with their sketch-buddies! I hope you guys are going to be able to get back out there and have a great time. But if not – here’s a sketch from Instagram :)

Please enjoy this video version. This is my first test of Vertical Video – it’s my understanding that if you view this on phone it will appear correctly – well – vertical.

This one was done on Saturday night, warming up for the big event.

I’ve sketched @Pinsent_Tailoring before – he was one of my IG portraits from last year’s #OneWeek100People. I’m a huge fan of his work. I enjoy his combination of historical references and an operatic sense of taste.

I don’t know if it’s good to admit this, but Instagram is a huge part of my life now. It’s not just the pandemic, and it’s not just a social media thing. It’s new kind of window on the world. It’s been giving me a tremendous amount of artistic inspiration.

So, no matter if you’re heading out to sketch on the street, or, if you’ll be staying in and drawing from reference – here’s to a great #OneWeek100People. See you on the hashtag, or in the Facebook Group.

    Hi Marc,

I like your sketching very much. It’s fun this one week (but not a full week, ;))). You write that you spend time on instagram. You have an account, but no post…. Do you use it just to see other people’works or do you post your work on a different account. If so, I’d like to know the account you use.

I’m member of USK Montreal. People talk about you, because you’re one of the founder. Maybe one day, you’ll join the group for a special sketching session.

Have a great day, and a great week

    Best regards

    Carole Lefebvre

Hey Carole, yes probably this year we will be back! There was a long time I stepped away from sketching (there were some health issues with family, but that is resolved now). So yes! Be good when the pandemic is fully over hey? We will sketch again :)

Have been your reader for a few years. Great to see you posting. Yeah, I use Instagram often these days. It’s my art space and I get to see other artists with their works as well. Thank you for the inspiration and another year of #oneweek100people!

This video was extraordinary and really helps demonstrate what a delicate touch you have. It’s just lovely. I haven’t watched you paint in quite a while, and it was a refresher to watch your use of water, and your ability to allow it to do what it does to achieve such lovely depth of color. Thank you!

Despite what I saw previously about the pandemic not being over in these parts, I decided that I would be safe enough in outdoor locations, so I went out to the light rail station today and got a couple dozen people! It felt fantastic to draw “real” life again. (Though I froze my fingers and butt off. ;-) ) Thanks for your encouragement… I plan to finish off the week with at least a hundred as I have all the previous years (except 2021… I made selfies last year, and even I couldn’t stand to draw my own face 100 times!).

This is terrific to hear! I’ve felt a hundred times better myself for getting out! I know it’s not totally safe, but – the mental benefits have been wonderful. I hope all goes well with you and you can stay out in the fresh (if nippy) air!
