Day 30 : #30x30DirectWatercolor2019 : Do Not Go Gently

June 25, 2019

I want to thank everyone who participated in this year’s #30x30DirectWatercolor2019 marathon.

I spend altogether too much time talking about myself on this blog. We’ve had over 3500 people this year in the facebook group.

There’s a lot to see from all different levels of artist, and every kind of subject matter.

It’s been a whirlwind of activity. Exciting to be around everyone making great art. Keeps the blood flowing, and has kept me painting.

We (myself and Uma) will leave that facebook group open in the break, but we won’t be checking it much – until next June.

Feel free to continue to talk amongst yourselves.

Now that we have this critical mass of members, I expect there will always be some activity in there. People have been joining even up to the very last day.

Again > Tremendous thanks to everyone who participated! And I will keep in touch through these pages at CitizenSketcher.

    Hi Marc,
I had a blast. It was even more fun than last year because I approached each sketch each day with excitement and confidence. While there is much to learn with this beautiful, playful and challenging technique, I am no longer afraid to do a sketch with direct watercolour. Of course, they won’t all be “supa dupa” sketches but I have not doubt that I will continue to grow more comfortable and confident as I continue to learn/practice. Again, thank you and Uma for throwing out the challenge and providing a forum to explore sketching with direct watercolour.

It’s great to hear Cheryl – that’s what we love – to hear people gaining confidence to play with the color :) That’s the way forward to more art!

Thank you and Uma for another inspiring year! I’ve Enjoyed the new direction Mark has been heading down and appreciated and learned from what you considered your failures. I wish you both a productive and fulfilling rest of the year!

    Hi Marc
You’ve kept the best til last! I love this one! It’s so dramatic and atmospheric. I love your use of contrasting daks and lights. I don’t know how you do it!
