CSPWC Exhibition May 27 to June 22, Etobicoke ON.

May 26, 2018

The Canadian Society of Painters in Water Color, (of which I’m a member) is holding their members’ exhibition, Water Reflections from May 27 to June 22 at the Etobicoke Civic Center Art Gallery, Etobicoke, ON.

They’ve chosen one of my two paintings here for the exhibition. It’s either the Top Of the World, Laguna Beach (above) or this one, Joshua Tree, CA.

Which one would you choose? :)

They’re both insanely amazing, but if you held a gun to my head to choose I would say #2, joshua tree.

I would choose the first painting…Top Of the World. Both are well done but I like how the sky seems to melt into the distant landscape. It is gorgeous and must be magnificent when face to face with your work.

Top one, for a ‘water’ exhibition… Laguna Beach… love it.

#2 Joshua Tree. It feels like I could just walk right onto the path.

The first one , both are great. But the first speaks to me more

Joshua Tree is my choice. The path captures my interest as it moves through the desert.

Both paintings are magnificent, but I like The Joshua Tree the best because of the strong subject.

Joshua Tree. The line of the path draws the eye in better.

I prefer Laguna Beach-a very strong composition and love the haze of the sky on distant landscape.Bravo Marc! Both paintings are deserving to be in exhibition.,,,,,

Sneaky boy. I love them both and can’t decide. I will just have to go the gallery. (It’s about 20 minutes away and it’s a lovely space.)

They are both beautiful paintings, Marc. congratulations! If I had to choose only one, I’d choose Joshua Tree. As a native Californian, you really caught the high desert essence. I really like the foreground, my eye is pulled around through the painting, back to the foreground. So much to look at!

I think i love Joshua tree slightly more. I love purple colours, also the interesting mountain shape directs your eye to the back and around the painting. Where as the first painting, has your eye unsure where to go. But both are vibrant and lovely colours and form. X kat

I love them both. But I think the second one. A hard choice to make. All the best with the exhibition.

I would have to go with Laguna Beach; I love the composition and the many different aspects to the painting: the way the sky and the haze melt into the distant mountains, the ocean and cliffs suggested on the left, and the roadway in the foreground. Both are beautiful, however. And they look so effortless!

I looked the Joshua Tree, CA. But they both are good.

I live near Laguna Beach and have been often to Joshua Tree, and am familiar with both. You’ve captured the essence of both places, capturing Southern California’s unique colors. Well done.

I must have missed this post -so many comments. Both paintings are gorgeous. I also like the second a bit better. and I mean just a bit. I think it is partially cuz I feel it has a center of interest that draws my eye. I love your treatment of the foreground. It almost is alive.

Both are beautiful and atmosheric. Congratulations! I would go with Joshua Tree but it’s a hard decision.

I would choose, Joshua Tree, CA, but the other on is amazing too :-)

Again like most I love them both but the Joshua Tree, has caught me so I guess that is the one.

Les deux sont superbes, mais la première est plus dramatique et capte davantage l’attention. C’est donc celle que je choisirais.

For me both stir a great deal of emotion but Joshua Tree because I can relate to the scene.
Keep them coming. You are an inspiration
