Announcement: Free Watercolor Demonstration in Hudson QC, Wed 18th

March 12, 2015

15Mar15_KeyWest (1)

If you are in the Montreal area, you might be interested to come see me doing a 90 minute watercolor painting demonstration at the Hudson Artist’s Association.

Wednesday, March 18th
Ste-Mary’s Parish Hall 273, Main Road Hudson
Starting at 7:30pm

I’ll be showing some original paintings from recent trips to Rio and the Florida Keys, and will be demonstrating my current favorite method for field sketching in watercolor – a kind of ‘alla prima’ approach where I draw directly with brushes and build a painting out of bold silhouettes of rich color.

Hope to see you there!

Hi marc, we are a group of watercolour painters who meet on a regular basis & would like to invite you to come & do a similar demo as the one mentioned above for our group. We are situated in the hills of the lower laurentians, on a series of lakes, about 12 km north of Lachute, quebec….no shortage of inspiration around us! Are you available in the summer months ? Looking forward to hearing from you, enjoy your posts immensely. Ciao Revilla

Love to be there in person, but I’m stuck in California. Hope to see photos of process on your great blog. I pass around your sketching book to all who might be interested, many are.

Thanks for that Jody! I just heard today – we earned out the advance on the book in the first accounting quarter – so the publisher is happy (yay!) This is a good sign for my next book proposal :)

This is a really beautiful picture, how did you get involved with painting?

Hey Andrea. I’ve been an artist for most of my adult life. Oddly enough it came via gaming. I was a fantasy RPG nerd in school, and became an art director designing video games professionally. Inventing imaginary places requires research, so I stared plein air sketching, and that’s how this all began. Translating my digital art to drawing, and then to painting on location :)

Hello Marc I have been following your site and am very impressed with your sketches and text. Now you are doing a demo for the Hudson Art Group. As I am involved with inviting guest artists, I would like to know if you would be interested and able to do a similar demo for the Atelier de Peinture de Lachine? It would be for Monday, April 20 at 7 pm and would last until approximately 9:30 pm with a 15 minute coffee break. We pay an honorarium of $150 for the demo. Would you be available and interested to do this? Looking forward to hearing from you . Martha

I have just found your book and this blog and it’s really opened up a whole new and fascinating way to approach sketching and watercolour for me . I am self taught and your techniques and tips have been really helpful , thank you so much ! I would have loved to watch your demo , but unfortunately for me I’m on the other side of the world in Bangalore, India . if you are doing this demo on video , please share the link here :) Thank you and looking forward to another fascinating book soon !

Hi Marc, I would love to watch a video recording of your demo, if possible. It is way too far for me to go to Montreal.
I read through every news from your on Citizensketcher. Your works and the book exhibit character and mood and full of information and inspiration for the amateurs like me. .
