That’s so gorgeous Marc!…so tell me – do you apply the paint with a pallet knife or do you just dispense with the knife, and lay it on by the fistful? (!!!)…either way, I love it! Love from Qld Aus, Marylin Smith
Funny story – I just took a workshop with Valerie Butters and she did exactly that! Put a plastic bag on her hand, and picked up a fist-full of paint. Now – she paints on 50″ paintings and she has to cover a lot of ground ;) These ones are 10×10″ :)
I should also say, I do use the knives and other scrapers, but I’m also using brushes more and more. I used to hate cleaning brushes. It’s more of a phobia than a dislike. But I’m getting over it because of the results. I’m loading the brush very intentionally – like a little shovel – or buttering it up with two or more colors sometimes.
Marc, do you buy your oils by the case lot? In all seriousness, do you use any other medium for texture, or is the magic all from Marc using just oil paint?
How soon before one of these might be available for shipping from your Etsy site?
I did! I place a huge order and drove to Vermont to pick it up. I use Cold Wax for a medium, and buy it in 1 gallon paint cans.
But, remember these are only 10×10″ so they look like more paint than they are :) I do paint bigger on occasion, but if I’m going to make 30 paintings, I have to know I have space on my drying walls! – and yes, it’ll be 3-4 months before they’re dry. But if you want to reserve one now that’s not a crazy idea!
In all seriousness, do you use any other medium for texture, or is the magic all from Marc just using straight oil paint? How long before one of these might be shipped from your Etsy site?
