Chateau Ramezay Garden
August 1, 2016
We’re still in the UK, probably hanging out with some other die-hard sketchers after the main event is over.
To tide you over until I can bring back trip-stories, here’s a sketch from the Chateau Ramezay in Montreal. We were downtown for something else that didn’t pan out – so we took the opportunity to hang out in the shade and make a painting! I’ve painted this (almost) exact same view before – but you can see, I’m just a smidgen faster these days.
Lovely. I get a sense of calm looking at it. The light monochrome sketches in the background and foreground are effective – like gentle, informative hints.
Enjoy hanging out with your colleagues. I imagine Liz S might be one of them.
This scetch tells me a lot more than a finish painted work.
And It gives a lot more space.
(I share much more simple art work on my blog)
I meant my own work
Mesmerizing!
Was just there very early this summer walking in that little garden. Lovely rendition – really captures the essence of the place – and provides a great memory of that visit. Thank you

It feels to see Old Montreal comes to life like that. It really makes me hope that they finally manage to reopen the old Gare Viger building (http://gareviger.com/en/site-history/) Then again I’m a sucker for old train stations :-)
