Night Sketching!

We’ve been back and forth to the city a lot lately (we’re rat-sitting for some friends). So I’ve been grabbing some sketches while I can. Here’s a view of city hall, a side door to the opera house, and one of the awesome capitals in the Jaguar dealership on Van Ness.

    curious how big this drawing is in real life. Did you do that in like 8×11 or do you sketch smaller?

    I’ve always loved those columns

    These are about 11×17 – so not too much larger than my usual 81/2×11 – (really it’s about what you can carry with you all the time, and or what you can fit on the scanner…) It’s also a matter of the right weight for the line…when I draw bigger, sometimes I gravitate to charcoal, to keep the line weight relative to the format…
